Got Done version 1.3

Habits that count real progress

How minimum and ideal goals make habit tracking more flexible without treating an imperfect day as failure.

Timo Weiss2 min read

Version 1.3 changed how Got Done thinks about habit goals. Instead of asking whether a day was simply perfect or missed, the app began giving different kinds of progress the credit they deserve.

Minimum and ideal goals

A minimum is the amount that keeps a habit alive. An ideal is the result you would like to reach when the day allows it.

For reading, that might mean a minimum of 10 minutes and an ideal of 30. Reaching 10 still counts. Reaching 30 shows that you met the larger goal. The habit can support consistency without turning every busy day into a failure.

A clearer way to log a habit

When a habit has both goals, the completion screen lets you record what you actually did. Got Done then shows the result with simple color feedback:

  • Green means you completed the habit.
  • Gold means you reached or passed the ideal goal.

Both colors represent progress. Gold is not the only result worth keeping.

Ten weeks of useful context

The habit detail view added a 10-week progress grid. It makes patterns easier to notice without reducing the whole routine to one streak number. You can also correct a previous day when your record needs an update.

Other useful changes in version 1.3

The update also added text export, an overdue badge for older tasks, and color adjustments for clearer contrast. Each change made it easier to understand your plan or keep a copy of your data.

Why the change matters

Habits need enough structure to guide you and enough flexibility to survive real life. Minimum and ideal goals make that balance visible. You can keep moving on a limited day and still aim higher when you have the time.
